Mounts--Yes!
Well met!
IMHO, mounts in Guild Wars could be implemented within the current mechanics/balance of the game. They could be an attribute line in a new profession (perhaps along with lances). They could be mountable pets (beastmastery, lol) with the promised new controls. Or they could be mountable heros (with their own armor and weapons). In any event, mounted characters could have advantages for height (for archers and, perhaps, spear chucking and command), advantages/disadvantages for speed, power and/or offense/defense depending on the size/type of the mount. Balance issues would be similar to those of pets and heros, respectively. Although I do not recommend adapting their combat system, Mount & Blade demonstrates some of the animation and uses of mounts possible, if only with horses.

The jokes here could be endless, especially if you went to Texas A&M.
Seriously, I think mounts could be implemented (and be an interesting dynamic to the game) IF they assigned it to some sort of new profession with a whole new set of attributes and skills to make it work. There would have to be significant downsides to utilizing a mount (i.e. only lances could be used, no spell casting, etc), otherwise it could dominate the game.

Mounts--NO!
/NOT signed...
This is Guild Wars not WoW. We have map travel to get to places so mounts are not needed. This has been brought up a bunch of times before and IMHO having mounts in GW would be stupid and pointless.
IMO If you want mounts, quit GW and go play WoW
That's my 2 pennies!

FORUM RULES SO READ THEM
stop beating dead horses and close this thread
Quote:
Always use the search button before posting a new thread to see if your ideas been suggested before.
Always check the stickied Index of Ideas to see if your idea can be found in there.
If your idea is a slight change of another suggestion that's already been suggested, don't post a new thread on it, post it in the existing thread and continue the discussion over the general idea.
Make sure your thread titles list your idea. Don't post threads with vague titles like "Greatest Suggestion Yet" when only in your post do you discuss your suggestion. Make sure your thread title states your idea, to keep things organized and less confusing.
The practice of posting simple 'bumps' to threads when nobody is responding is discouraged here, and threads seen being 'bumped' without good reason and nothing new to add, will be closed. If you are going to 'bump' a thread, do so after a reasonable amount of time, and let your 'bump' post contribute something to the thread rather than simply taking the thread up to the top of the forum.
Do not post "A Few Ideas" threads. If you have more than one idea ---first double check with the search button and the index thread to make sure they're fresh suggestions, and create a separate thread for each one with a relevant title.
If you don't feel like creating a separate thread for each suggestion you have, post all of them in the Index of Ideas thread stickied at the top of the forum.
Of course, keep this to suggestions only. Not builds, not rants or PvP vs PvE discussions, etc. This is the suggestions forum.
Use the Search Button and check the Index thread to make sure you're not repeating an idea.
Do it again.

Lol! Beastmastery (in the) buff!
Seriously, as pets, mounts would take up space on your skill bar; as heros, they would take up space in your party. IMHO, they would not, therefore, dominate any more than pets or heros do, respectively.

The reason to have mounts is to cover vast distances in a short time, because there is no alternative way to do it.
Something we dont need.
Instances in GWs dont take a staggering amount of time to traverse, and can instantly teleport to a town or city at will.
Mounts of useless and pointless in GWs.
They would serve no purpose. You brought this over from the "just one question" thread, because I saw your comment. The thread in which I posted a comment saying...
"Most people who want things coppied from WoW only ask for the huge things like mounts, which are pointless."
Mounts are something we dont need, and you only want because they look cool, and you want to ride something. Go to WoW if you want to do that.
They wouldnt improve gameplay and would just consume space in an already limited area.

I know it's well hidden, let me show you. It's between "New Posts & Quick Links"

Mounts are one of the oldest suggestions in Guild Wars history, with a long series of, mainly closed, threads. For future reference, though there's only one active thread within it here, the Index of Ideas is a convenient method of quickly searching for previously suggested ideas. Also take a moment to review the rules unique to Sardelac.
Though it's not quite as nice as the classic vb search, we do have a working boardtracker search available for your convenience as well. Unfortunately, it won't tell you when a thread is closed, but as you can see, there's already a lot of mount discussion going/already gone on.
